IT'S NOT EASY TO EMBRACE CHANGE

When someone says, “embrace change,” how do we really surrender to the embracing of something so uncertain?  As we continue to face uncertainty in jobs, the economy, even the price of gas this summer, what can you do to truly embrace change?  It will be important to ask yourself these 3 questions as you make your way through embracing the unknown.  Are you flexible? Are your committed?  Are you trying to control the outcome?

For starters, be flexible!  Today, more than ever, change is constant and all else revolves around it.  Whatever change you are facing, whether it is life changes, job change, career change - be flexible.  How flexible?  Remember the slinky?  Picture a slinky and how flexible it is in whatever position you place it.  Can you be that flexible?  Maybe not initially, but with practice, I bet you could be.

Secondly, commit to the process.  As in life, the job search can pose many opportunities to opt out given to many excuses, procrastination, even busyness.  Like anything we wish to achieve, set goals and include benchmarks for reaching them.  Then commit to the process to complete each goal, slightly modifying (only if necessary) along the way.  By committing to the process, it helps make the journey a lot smoother and certainly gets you where you want to go.

Finally, don’t control the outcome.  Remember, when embracing change, if you appear to be out of control, it’s because you are unsure how things will turn out.  By letting go of the outcome, you allow greater things into your life.  You also let go of the limits you place on yourself.  It’s not easy, but with practice, you can do it.  Remember,  “change and shape your future, otherwise, this is as good as it gets!”

 SUMMER JOB SEARCH TIP

As the summer approaches, it's too easy to job search online after work or on your lunch hour, staying in where it's cool.  However, summer is the perfect time to hone your networking skills.  With opportunities for outdoor lunches, extended evening activities, even going on vacation.  Who do you want to meet this summer as part of your career networking efforts?  Who in your network knows this person?  Or who knows of someone who may know of someone who does?  Right now you might be thinking, "I don't have a clue."  Start putting together your list of networking contacts (personal and professional), think about who you want to meet.  Then, get into summer gear, asking, "who do you know ...."  You may be surprised what you net from your networking.

About the Workshop

Creating work and life balance begins with a look at your inner self.  If you would like to attend this full-day workshop, please take the day off from work.  You will learn how to:

v     Identify the area(s) that need a higher level of awareness for balance

v     Incorporate fun as a simplistic process into all that you do

v     Create a different perspective whereby you give power to positive thoughts

v     Design an action plan to prioritize the areas to balance

Don’t miss this excellent opportunity.  Apply the day’s events over the coming months and bring your awareness level to new heights in order to create the balance that you seek.  This will be an exciting day, with journaling and fun-filled activities covering major life categories.  You will experience an inspired process in discovering how to create work and life balance.  Based on the principals outlined in the book, How To Live and Work Your Passion and Still Earn a Living by Rosemary Augustine, it will help if you are familiar with the journaling process, but you don’t have to journal regularly to participate.

If you are unable to attend on this date but would like to participate in an upcoming workshop on work and life balance, please let me know.

Please reserve your space before the deadline date of Tuesday, May 29, 2001.

 SOON TO BE A JERSEYITE

Meanwhile, preparations for the move to New Jersey are going smoothly with a departure date of approximately June 15th or upon completion of the best of 7 games in the Stanley Cup Finals.  I find it rather interesting and maybe even ironic as a hockey fan for 20+ years, my favorite team, the Colorado Avalanche, are competing for the Cup against the New Jersey Devils.  I’m obviously routing for the Avs on this one.

I will, however, be off line from June 15 – 25th beginning with back ups and then transporting computer equipment cross-country.  I look forward to providing you with a July newsletter that I’ve written at the beach!

Considering I’ve taken my own advice in living and working my passion, if you haven’t already purchased your copy of “How To Live and Work Your Passion and Still Earn a Living,” purchase your copy online today.

Hope this finds you living and working your passion – everyday!

Warmest Regards,

Rosemary Augustine

P.S. By now you know that the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup on Saturday June 9, 2001.  How exciting to return to New Jersey, wearing my Avs hat and T-shirt.  Although I'm leaving in a week, I could have gotten a quick flight to New Jersey Saturday evening, hitching a ride with the NJ Devils, who probably wanted to get out of town quickly!
